First post: My journey

Let me first tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a 28 year old musician and artist who's been involved in the DIY scene for about six years on and off. I co-curated a huge craft symposium back in 2015 which got a lot of attention and helped kickstart some really cool small businesses. I'm a skilled woodworker, home brewer, and have always been mechanically inclined. My dad used to say "you spend more time tinkering with machines than you do spend playing with other kids in the neighborhood!" He was right. But at around age 26, I had a wake-up call when my dog at the time Arlo got really sick with a tumor. I was camping on the Susquehannah with my girlfriend at the time Sarah and we were not able to get back to town soon enough to save him without basically scrapping the whole trip. So he unfortunately had to pass away.

This got me thinking: what if I could have saved Arlo? I started reading up on veterinary surgery and realized that it's not so different from working on my bike or my dad's truck. Not only that but human surgery was really pretty much the same. It was like a light when on in my head and suddenly I had a vision. DIY surgery. Lots of people can't afford to go to the doctor, which is a shame in this country supposedly of the "land of the free." And by providing clients with a relaxing home enviroment I could really reduce a lot of the stress people have to go through in order to get simple but life saving operations. I am a skilled, careful and meticulous professional, and I knew that clients would have nothing to worry about. So I started hitting the books, and began learning the ins and outs of the human body.

Studying!!

Right now I'm in the midst of getting the space set up and in the process of hiring an intern. I haven't performed a surgery in a professional capacity yet but I will hopefully be up and running and ready to operate by early to mid-December fingers crossed. In the next few days I will post my services list and my rates. Check back soon to follow this journey with me from craftsman to home surgeon. I couldn't be more amped than I am right this minute.
