First post: My journey

Let me first tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a 28 year old musician and artist who's been involved in the DIY scene for about six years on and off. I co-curated a huge craft symposium back in 2015 which got a lot of attention and helped kickstart some really cool small businesses. I'm a skilled woodworker, home brewer, and have always been mechanically inclined. My dad used to say "you spend more time tinkering with machines than you do spend playing with other kids in the neighborhood!" He was right. But at around age 26, I had a wake-up call when my dog at the time Arlo got really sick with a tumor. I was camping on the Susquehannah with my girlfriend at the time Sarah and we were not able to get back to town soon enough to save him without basically scrapping the whole trip.
